HELP - Italian 106 Rallye S2 - UK Registration

I am in the UK and I have a 106 Rallye S2 1.6 that was originally registered in Italy.

I bought it in the UK but it did not have an Italian vehicel logbook as it was owned by somebody in the Military Forces and it had a Miltary Forces registration number.

In order to register the car in the UK, I have to prove the date of manufacture. I have spoken to Peugeot Customer Services In UK and they have said that Peugeot Customer Services in Italy can provide the build date.

They gave me a phone number in Italy but it is answered by an automated service in Italian - (what a suprise:-) )

As I don't speak Italian, I am trying to find someone in Italy who may be able to help me get in touch with Peugeot Italy and get this information.

I am willing to pay reasonable expenses

Can anyone help?

I also have an Italian 205 Rallye road car which is completely standard, also a 205 Rallye GPA rally car.

Mi hanno dato un numero di telefono in Italia, ma si risponde con un servizio automatico in italiano - (quello che una sorpresa )

Come io non parlo italiano, sto cercando di trovare qualcuno in Italia che sia in grado di aiutarmi a entrare in contatto con Peugeot Italia e ottenere queste informazioni.

sorry but I don't understand why you have to talk with Peugeot Italy to know the build date of your car... with your VIN number every Peugeot service should know when your car was built.

Thanks for your reply - and you are right that the 10th didgit of the VIn code denotes the model year.

However,if you cannot provide a logbook, the Department of Vehicle Licensing in the UK require qualified proof from either the vehicle manufacturer or from a recognised Heritage Car Club in the case of older classic cars as to the build date.

The series 2 Rallye was introduced in Europe in 1996, so the earliest build date has to be around that time, The vin no indicates that mine is 1996 - just need Peugeot to qualify that in an email or a letter.

Ok, but i still dont understand why you have to talk with Peugeot Italy to have a document that certify the year of birth of your car. I mean, also Peugeot UK could give you a document, maybe they just dont want to help you...
Anyway, if they still can't (or don't want) give you this proof, I think you should ask it to the builder, Peugeot France.

p.s. why you bought cars from Italy? Aren't you uncomfortable with the steering wheel on the left side?
